The fourth annual Summit Academy OIC Golf Classic was held on June 5 at the renowned Hazeltine National Golf Course. The day and course couldn't have been more beautiful! All of our fun was for a good cause, as we raised nearly $60,000 for Summit Academy's youth and adult education programs.
This year we had the pleasure of being entertained and challenged by Golf Pro Brad Denton. He put on an informative and entertaining trick show before the day of golf began and challenged the golfers to "beat the pro" out on the course. Golfers could also win a Porsche Boxster by shooting a hole in one at Hole 17. Given the talent on the course that day, it was surprising no one drove off in the Boxster! All golfers received massages at Hole 1, regardless of golfing ability.
At the Champion's Reception and dinner program, friends of Summit ate, drank and socialized while learning more about Summit's programs. Mary Ebnet, Quantum Opportunities Program (QOP) lead instructor, described for attendees how the students in QOP will benefit from the expanded classroom space and equipment to be purchased with the $9,000 that was raised in the Fund-A-Need. Jeff Dubay of KFAN's PA and Dubay announced the winners of the tournament (see the photos below) and gave away many prizes, including a Scotty Cameron putter and a Ping 65 Driver.
We thank all of our volunteers, sponsors and participants for their generosity. Their involvement makes it possible for Summit to help youth and adults gain the skills they need to become successful and self-sufficient.
