Summit Academy OIC provides tutoring sessions in math, reading, and language arts that improves individuals test scores. Services are offered to fit the needs and learning styles of all individuals seeking academic assistance. We strive to improve individual’s grades as well to boost their confidence.
We have the Summit Prep Tutoring program for individuals without a high school diploma or GED. To qualify for the Summit Prep tutoring program, individuals need to score below an 8th grade level in both reading and language, and a 5th grade level in math on the TABE test.
These are the grade level requirements for entrance into our GED Program. Every Summit Prep student must accumulate 40 hours of tutoring (State Requirement) before retest. Therefore, attendance is mandatory and recorded!
What are the steps to get tutored?
(Non-students seeking tutoring must complete the following order!)
Attend a wednesday Information session.
Complete either the TABE test or the Accuplacer.
Meet with Bianca Williams-Ford for 1-on-1 consultation.
Summit Prep Tutoring
Summit Academy offers 1-on-1 consultation for individuals lacking a high school diploma or GED and seeking our GED program. Individuals are given personalized tutoring schedule that work with their schedule. Individuals then participate in classroom style tutoring sessions. Tutors give prepared lessons and TABE test preparation sessions Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- TABE reading & language: 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM
- TABE math: 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM
We have drop-in tutoring sessions for individuals with their high school diploma or GED. To qualify for our drop-in sessions, individuals need to score below a 34 in math, below a 55 in reading comprehension, or below a 4 on the essay portions of the Accuplacer. These are the requirements for entrance into our vocational training programs.
Tutors are available Monday through Friday at various times. Accuplacer tutoring includes questions on concepts and/ or specific content, or insights into test-taking strategies. Please view the tutoring calendar for correct times and specific sessions.
