Summit Academy Students Gain Hands-On Training at the Steger Wilderness Center Experience This summer, two groups of Summit Academy construction students had a unique opportunity to gain real-life construction experience at the Steger Wilderness Center. U.S. Bank Stadium Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Louis King

July 22 marked the official opening of the new U.S. Bank Stadium with a grand ribbon cutting ceremony. David Mortenson of Mortenson Construction introduced Louis King, president and CEO of Summit Academy, who spoke about Summit Academy’s leadership in meeting workforce hiring targets for minorities, women and veterans on the construction of the stadium . . . as well as well-paying part-time employment opportunities during the ongoing operations of the stadium. Summit Academy Manager receives Best International Award in Ireland

Dr. Anne-Marie Kuiper of Summit Academy Recognized Internationally for Her Cutting-Edge Work in Human Resource Development in North Minneapolis Dr. Kuiper presented her research to 330 attendees from around the world during the conference at the University College of Cork in Ireland. Summit Academy & Ryan Companies Partner on Downtown East Hiring

On Wednesday, June 3rd, Summit Academy OIC hosted the first Open House for Ryan Companies and its sub-contractors to discuss the hiring of minorities and women on the key Downtown East Development project headed up by Ryan Companies. This project is contiguous with the new Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium that is already underway. Summit Academy students, Theo Pickford and Lejune Richberg, were featured in last night’s KARE-TV’s piece about the Minnesota Construction Crew Job Fair held yesterday at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Many contractors are beginning to recognize the demographic shift and future workforce needs, including the hiring of people of color, women and veterans. Summit Academy’s Rehab Tech Program on Kare 11

Through a partnership between Hennepin County and Summit Academy, a once-neglected house has been remodeled and renovated. Since September of 2013, 70 Summit Academy Residential Rehabilitation Technician students have worked on rehabilitating the house at 3245 Bloomington Avenue South in Minneapolis. A year and a half later, the house is now complete.  Click here to view the complete story
