Volunteer Tutors

I had been out of school for so long that coming back to school and trying to do the math was a discouragement… I think the tutoring benefits because … then they (students) will have more confidence when it comes to actually doing it (math).

Become a Summit Prep Tutor

Tutors will connect with students and help them master GED essentials – math, grammar, reading comprehension, science and social studies. You will tutor students in subjects you are strongest in, and may lead study groups or work one-on-one.

The GED is the equivalent to a high school diploma, and it has the power to change lives. On average, a person with a GED earns $250,000 more over the course of a lifetime than a person with no GED. As a tutor, you can help students gain knowledge and confidence to pass the test.

As a Summit Prep Entrance Exam Tutor, you can help students get ready for success in their vocational training program. You might help students with reading or math, and practice test-taking strategies.

  • TABE: Test of Adult Basic Education. This test makes sure students are ready to study for the GED, and helps identify areas of academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • Accuplacer: This is a standard test for entrance into post-secondary education – a critical component to gain job skills for today’s economy.
