CEO Louis King
Louis King has over 20 years experience in education, youth development and workforce development. His current work focuses on stabilizing families by ensuring that parents earn the wages needed to adequately support their children.
King, II served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, achieving the rank of Major. He is married to Beverly and has three children: Aja, Kamaria and Lauryn.
V.P. Leroy West
West joined Summit Academy as Chief Administrative Officer in December 2003. In this role, he manages all program operations, analysis and evaluation. Previously, he served for 10 years in leadership positions at East YMCA in St. Paul.
CAO Annie Nelson
Ms. Nelson joined the executive team at Summit in February 2017. Annie provides strategic and operational leadership to Summit as a whole, and directly oversees all development, marketing and communications activities. Ms. Nelson brings a wealth of professional experience in strategic planning and implementation, organizational development, communications, fundraising campaigns, events and major gifts. She joins us from the Children’s Theater Company, where she led a team of nine in raising nearly $5 million through government and foundation support, corporate grants and sponsorships, events and individual gifts.
Annie’s distinguished career includes leadership roles at nonprofit organizations and consulting firms, including McKinley Boston & Associates, the Bridge For Youth and the Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and has completed professional programs at the University of St. Thomas and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
CFO Marc Carrier
Carrier joined Summit in January 2005. His strong organizational skills, financial discipline and strategic planning experience are assets to the organization.
Carrier is active in local government serving his third term on City Council for the City of Waconia, currently serves on the Board of Directors for Metro Cities and serves as the City liaison to the School District 110.
Our Board of Directors provide vision and leadership to assist in setting the direction to achieving the organization’s mission and goals. They possess a fiduciary duty to the organization by monitoring and evaluating financial results, ensure and nurture adequate human and financial resources.
