Network Operations Center (NOC)

NOC Technicians handle systems alert triage and network security monitoring/resolution. A NOC Technician plays a critical role in maintaining client satisfaction and resilient network operations. A NOC Technician must maintain a constant awareness of internal and customer infrastructure in data centers to guarantee the best service delivery possible. NOC Technicians will work with CISCO gear, Linux, and Windows servers and monitor complex systems to support a wide range of clients.

NOC Essential Duties

NOC Technicians monitor infrastructure’s health, security, and capacity, in order to make decisions and adjustments to ensure optimal network performance and organizational productivity. NOC Technicians can create alerts (or “tickets”) that identify and categorize the issue based on severity, alert type, and a number of other criteria.

NOC Techs are constantly researching abnormal activities, making adjustments, and they can marshal resources – to respond to emergency situations.

Other duties that can be assigned are:

  • Backup and storage management
  • Firewall and intrusion prevention system (IPS) monitoring and management
  • Network discovery and assessments
  • Antivirus scanning and remediation
  • Application software installations, troubleshooting, and updating

Course Information

This program is designed for students that have an aptitude for math, computer literacy, but they do not need previous IT background. Students will learn skills that relate to the primary functions of a NOC Technician. You can also view the course catalog here.

Background Check

The IT industry has criminal background restrictions. Any felony conviction is a disqualification for employment. Summit Academy will screen potential students prior to enrollment.
